چکیده

Digital content (e.g., music, photos, videos) has become very easy to create and disseminate, thanks to the widespread success of powerful, networked handheld devices. As the volume of content being produced is increasing dramatically, it becomes crucial to be able to filter irrelevant information as early as possible; this is to avoid both network congestion and end-user overload. In order to achieve these goals, this paper proposes Habit, a novel cross-layered approach to content dissemination for mobile ad-hoc networks that leverages information about nodes’ colocation (physical layer) and their social network (application layer). More precisely, the regularity of users’ colocation is learned based on historical colocation observations; also, the users’ social network (or ‘network of interest’) is dynamically propagated during periods of colocation; finally, these distinct pieces of information are locally combined and used to compute the paths that content should follow, in a way that maximises both precision (i.e., nodes receive only content they are interested in) and recall (i.e., all relevant content is received by interested nodes). We demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach by means of simulation using a large set of real world traces.

Cont: Social-Aware Content and Contact Based File Search in Delay Tolerant Networks

In this paper, we focus on distributed file search over a delay tolerant network (DTN) formed by mobile devices that exhibit the characteristics of social networks. Current file search methods in MANETs/DTNs are either content-based or contact-based. The former builds routing tables for node contents but is not resilient to high node mobility, while the latter exploits node contact patterns in ...

Secure Routing Protocol: Affection on MANETs Performance

In mobile ad hoc networks, the absence ofinfrastructure and the consequent absence of authorizationfacilities impede the usual practice of establishing a practicalcriterion to distinguishing nodes as trusted and distrusted.Since all nodes in the MANETs would be used as router inmulti-hop applications, secure routing protocols have vital rulein the security of the network. So evaluating the perf...

Energy Efficient Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks by Using Honey Bee Mating Optimization

Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are composed of mobile stations communicating through wireless links, without any fixed backbone support. In these networks, limited power energy supply, and frequent topology changes caused by node mobility, makes their routing a challenging problem. TORA is one of the routing protocols that successfully copes with the nodes’ mobility side effects, but it do...

Routing Improvement for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) Using Nature Inspired Algorithms

are a subset of MANETs in which vehicles are considered as network clients. These networks have been created to communicate between vehicles and traffic control on the roads. have similar features to MANETs and their main special property is the high-speed node mobility which makes a quick change of the network. The rapid change of network topology is a major challenge in routing. One of the we...
